Sunday, April 20, 2008 Its small, its short, its stubby,it might even be fat,but do you know the importance of a thumb? Can't hold things properly, can't perform many mundance, seemingly insignificant everyday routines without it,as I found out yesterday when I dislocated my thumb. ![]() Played soccer yesterday, and came off worse in a challenge for the ball. The ball flew away from my goalpost, and my thumb flounted its normal rules on acceptable range of motion when it pointed perpendicular to its usual position. For some detailed information,it was actually my first metacarpal bone that dislocated from the carpus. Anyway, I didn't felt any pain, but couldn't move it at all. Feeling very garung,I grabbed that offending thumb and pulled it back to its normal position. After a very satisfying "crack!",my thumb slipped back into position, and that was when the pain began... I suspect the swelling's due to blood vessels broken, and the pain's cos of the nerves being infringed by objects that have no right to be there. The restriction of full movement of the thumb is probably due to the swelling,so in other words,it should be back to normal in a few day's time....I hope.. But as my instructor in medic course would say, "U doctor or medic?" No PhD so better go see doctor. Haha. Well, guess this happened cos God loves me enough to stop me from being obssessed with playing my new psp. Without my left thumb, which i use to push the directional buttons of the psp,i can practically play no games on the psp. There goes my obssession. A painful lesson from God......I'm just throwing guesses, but its likely a lesson that prevents greater pain. Oh yeah,i still think that while Bush won't be remembered as a great president,he sure will be thought of as one of the funniest and most interesting ever to sit in that great chair.
