Monday, February 19, 2007 Gong Xi Fa Cai! CNY is finally here. Day 2 of it,Day 4 of my holiday. So much time,so much rest, yet why do i still feel so bored? Dont have that CNY atmosphere in my heart. Urgh... Maybe its cos Im still sick after so long, and my eye bags...wow man! Injured my arm somehow ytd also. The aches spreading rather weirdly from the neck to the forearm. After CNY if it continues,im gg use my angbao money to see doctor. =S Its been rather quiet this CNY,i remember last year my family visited non stop from morning til night on the first day. Chiong to so many places. This year was needless to say, very different. Morning service, afternoon only 2 places before gg home. And only visited my dad's side, while my mum's overseas so no point gg over her side. But my dad's side good enough for now i guess,so many ppl to catch up with. Haha. Today not so lucky, only went Kaima's pl for like 2 hours or so. Ate my lunch-dinner. It was 4 in the afternoon ma... Played awhile, ate. Haha. My arm's like killing me now, typing very slowly now. Haha... And my flu! Prayer list quite long this year ar. Haha. Last year also almost same thing,pre-CNY flu and CNY-induced cough and sorethroat. After so long of denial,i admit that my body very prone to falling ill. Not those major illness but those little ones that are like mosquito swarms, irritating and constant. URGH! Hopefully tmr's a better day. But even if it aint,im not gg let it spoil my impression of CNY and get me too down. Unknown Source at 8:45 PM
Friday, February 09, 2007 Just a week away to Chinese New Year! Time of hongbaos and mandarin oranges, plenty to tidbits, sweets, drinks and sore throats... Maybe it hasnt hit me yet,but I still dont feel very excited about it. Dont have that CNY atmosphere. The only sign of it in my house is the amazing disappearance acts of plenty of junk, junk that was collecting dusk for the past year. Untouched, ignored, neglected, invisible then. But touched,zero-ed in on,thrown away, visible but disposed of now. Amazing how festivals spur lazy people into action. Sometimes people just need a little motivation that pushes their right buttons to do stuff. Motivations, not principles. If my family and I were really spurred on by principles dictating a clean and tidy house, those year old dust probably wouldnt have survived past the first month. But as it is,principles get shaken by external circumstances and other sorts of motivations have to be brought in to move us. Yikes! That doesnt sound very morally strong. Oh well... In the next 3 days im embarking on a reunion dinner marathon! Yu sheng(and hopefully red wine) here i come! Always liked reunion dinners with yu sheng cos they inevitably bring everybody around the table, the whole family. Warm family feeling.. Ahhhh.... even if it lasts for 2 minutes. After that another kind of family feeling. AREA CLEANING!! Anyway, holding 3 seperate dinners for 2 families. Urgh.. This's the first year im having separate reunion dinners with my mum and dad. A bit weird and uncomfortable with that. But its ok,got the spiritual family to make up for that. Haha. Putting in more effort into that steamboat reunion dinner thingy maybe cos its the first time im doing anything like that(Special shout out to Jess for teaching me to de-skin and slice my first chicken/pork/fish!) and partly to revive that "warm family feeling" that I know is going to be missing somehow in the other 2 dinners. Only thing thats going to be consistent with all 3 dinners is the cleaning up part =X Gulp... Haha. Well, til next time.. Hopefully I get my camera up and running soon. HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR! |
